Bringing Hope to Brick Kiln Workers: A Free Medical Camp for Women and Children
“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.”
Psalm 82:3 (NIV)
In the scorching heat of 45°C, where hundreds of laborers spend their days baking bricks under harsh and hazardous conditions, access to healthcare is a luxury they cannot afford. Many women and children working in these brick kilns suffer from severe malnutrition, iron and calcium deficiencies, respiratory issues, and untreated illnesses due to continuous exposure to dust and extreme temperatures.
To address this dire situation, Save and Serve Humanity (SSH) organized a free medical camp in a brick kiln in Kasur on June 10, 2023, specifically focused on child laborers and women.
A Day of Care and Compassion
With the dedication of our medical team—including 1 lady doctor, 1 charge nurse, 2 assistant nurses, 1 dispenser, and 3 volunteers—we provided essential healthcare, nutritional supplements, and hygiene kits to 155 patients who desperately needed medical attention.
Many of the women we treated were suffering from anemia, dehydration, and calcium deficiencies, a result of long hours of labor with inadequate nutrition. The children, many of whom spend their entire day carrying heavy loads, were found to be underweight, weak, and suffering from respiratory diseases due to the constant exposure to dust and pollutants.

More Than Just Treatment – A Step Towards Change
Our team not only provided medications and nutritional supplements but also conducted awareness sessions on hygiene, maternal health, and nutrition to educate families on the importance of a balanced diet and proper healthcare.
The response from the brick kiln workers was overwhelming. Women expressed gratitude and relief, and many requested regular visits to ensure continued medical support. The children, some receiving their first-ever medical checkup, left the camp with smiles on their faces and much-needed care.
A Call to Action
This camp was just one step in our ongoing mission to serve the underserved. But thousands more are still waiting for help. We need your support to continue providing free healthcare, awareness, and hope to the most vulnerable members of our society.
